PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Each of our programs has a core program and extended day options which helps parents meet the needs of their family’s busy schedule. In addition, we have both 10 and 12-month offerings.
Stepping Stones (2 years to 3 years, 3 months old)
2, 3 and 5-day options
This program is designed to help the first time student to develop self-esteem, independence and verbal skills. It is designed for the 2 to young 3 year old child and focuses on developing social and emotional footing, knowing that a firm foundation here will foster academic growth.
The Core program meets from 9 to 11:30 am from September to June. Parents may choose the days that meet the needs of their personal schedules. If at all possible, we prefer that these days are consecutive to better meet the developmental needs of the child. We do understand that this is not possible for all families.
Extended hours are available from 7 am to 6 pm year-round as each individual family needs. Since this is a full day Montessori program, not a child care program, the children are supervised by Montessori certified teachers and Montessori trained assistants. Families may choose to extend their days with morning, afternoon or additional hours on both ends. From June to August, a summer camp program is in session which allows parents to have their children here for the same hours as the remainder of the year, or to adjust their schedule according to their summer plans. More information about the camp program is listed below.
Multi-Age Class (3 to 6 years old)
5 day options for mornings, afternoons or full days
The 5-Day multi-age program is designed for three to five year olds. It is offered during the mornings or full day and is the core of our programming. Children are offered a rich, extensive curriculum in the areas of math, language, science, cultural, peacemaking, and the arts. They learn to care for themselves and their environment, as well as, to identify and refine their senses. The full day program includes a lunch program, a period of rest and daily enriching activities including cooking, crafts, and literature.
The Core programs meets from September to June with morning, afternoon and full day options. The morning class meets from 8:30 to 11:30; afternoon class from 12 to 2:30 and the full day class meets from 8:30 to 2:30.
Extended hours are available from 7 am to 6 pm year-round as each individual family needs. Kindergarten

Parent Child Classes (6 months to 30 months, with a caregiver)
6-week sessions which meet one day per week
Parent-Child classes will allow parents of young children to get to know the Montessori philosophy of education through participation in six-week “Mommy and Me” style classes. Dr. Montessori believed that the formative years beginning from birth to six represent the most crucial time in the child’s development. Building on this notion, the instructor, a certified Montessori teacher, will guide the families through classes designed to introduce the child to beginning language, social and daily living experiences. Sessions are held throughout the year. Please check the page to see when the next session begins.
Inter-Generational Activities Program
The Inter-Generational Activities Program is included into the daily functioning of the school and includes all of its students. This program allows Deer Path students to interact with senior residents from Paragon Village on a regular basis. Seniors share books and stories in our facility on a regular basis; we share weekly exercise together in the Paragon facility; as well as nature walks on our shared campus. Each month, a special activity is held to celebrate a holiday or season. We have noticed that many of our students have really bonded with the senior citizens in their lives especially when their grandparents live too far away to share time with them regularly and share their wisdom and their perspective of life. For seniors, the children bring energy, enthusiasm and joy to their days by increasing their physical activity and allowing them to be contributors in the educational process of these children.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
Creative Movement: emphasized body awareness through dance and basic gymnastics. Through creative movement the children become aware of their body and gain the ability to refine their motor skills. They learn to follow directions and physically replicate what they see. Patience and problem solving skills are also enhanced.
Spanish: is offered in our multi-aged classrooms and our kindergarten program. The children meet with our native speaking Spanish teacher to learn simple words, phrases, songs and activities. Besides helping the children develop an appreciation of other cultures, research has shown learning a foreign language at this age enhances brain development.
Music: is incorporated into our classes on an ongoing basis. Each week there is also time set aside for an introduction to music. Teachers use the Montessori bells apparatus, xylophones and a variety of other rhythm instruments to introduce the children to beat, temp, rhythm, tone and other basics of music. In addition, Musically Yours brings their educational, hands-on Music Preludes program to our school on a weekly basis. This program is offered to our parents at an additional fee and is administered by the Musically Yours staff.
SUMMER PROGRAM
5 half and full days from June to August
Our camp program specializes in 2 ½ to 6 year old children and fills the gaps for those parents who need a 12-month program. It is designed to meet the needs of not only the youngest child, but also the busiest parent. The summer program gives the children time to enjoy summer in a structured recreational environment. In addition children can relax with books, language, drama, art, cooking, and fitness throughout the day. As always, Deer Path is an environment where safety and respect take precedence above all else. The Montessori philosophy of respectful discipline will be maintained always.
Children will enjoy indoor and outdoor time each day (weather permitting). Activities will include nature activities, structured and free play, arts and crafts, water play, story time and gardening activities. Each week there is a special themed event and developmentally appropriate field trips are offered bi-weekly.
The Deer Path Summer Camp is supervised and planned by a Montessori-trained teacher. Our summer program is staffed by our own Montessori certified teachers and Montessori trained assistants.
Campers will also receive a Deer Path t-shirt with their camp enrollment. Additional t-shirts may be purchased through the school at a cost of $7. Children must sign up for a minimum of two weeks, which need not be consecutive. Drop-In needs can be accommodated for currently enrolled students as space permits.
