THE HEART OF THE PROGRAM
Deer Path Montessori is truly a house for children. Our approach to education goes beyond academics. We are dedicated to the development of the whole child: social, intellectual, emotional, and physical. The Montessori philosophy is at the heart of everything we do at Deer Path. Deer Path's approach, based upon the unique methods of Dr. Maria Montessori, is designed to cultivate a life-long love of learning, independence, responsibility, and respect for others, the environment and all living things. Founded in 1982, Deer Path is a nonprofit, nonsectarian preschool and kindergarten which offers half-day, full-day classes, and care options with both 10 and 12-month schedules. Children of all races and religions are welcome.
ENRICHED ENVIRONMENT
Hands-on learning with well-tested teaching techniques and self-corrective materials is a key feature in our classrooms. The beautifully crafted materials are arranged in an inviting display on low, open shelves.
Children are given ample time and space to explore and work at their own pace and in their own learning style. The major curriculum areas include: practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, science and cultural subjects including peace education. The curriculum is enriched by art, music, movement, foreign languages, a children's garden and other outdoor experiences.
